Presenting Myself Well
It has been 6 months since The Badass Widows came out. In that time I’ve participated in 14 book related launches, presentations and festivals. Since this was my debut novel, I had a lot to learn and still do! But I’m proud to say that I no longer freeze up when someone asks me a question.
More specifically, I’ve learned:
I don’t have to be perfect; I just have to be interesting.
I can come across as an atypical older woman but still be relatable.
I dress in something simple. No giant prints or fashion statements – they’re distracting and don’t photograph well.
If someone asks me a personal question I don’t want to answer, I can pretend I’m a politician and use my “talking points” instead.
It’s not brain surgery, no one will die if I act like a dork!
