A Beautiful Mess
This time of year my garden is abuzz. Three out of four cherry trees are blooming which attracts thousands, maybe millions of bees. If you stand anywhere in my backyard, you hear the industrious sound of them overhead. They are so loud! Pink flower petals carpet the ground and the patio and we inevitably bring those petals into the house on our feet and fur. In short, it’s a beautiful mess. In a few days, the petals will become a slimy hazard, and I will need to clear them off the flagstones. But not yet. Today I’m going to sit quietly, listen to the hum overhead, watch the petals flutter down like snowflakes and savor my tiny part of this messed up world.
